Educational Specialist at the Hallowell Center

Our Educational Specialist is available to individually consult with families. She can support them in developing a plan for improved student confidence and performance. The plan will address challenges particular to students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and other Learning Disabilities, and help them to “unwrap their gifts” in the academic environment. 

Parents often seek counsel and support to: 

• Further support Neuropsychological Evaluations and ensure that the recommendations are implemented and incorporated into a hands-on academic plan.

• Meet with parents, school administrators and teachers to develop in-classroom and home strategies.

• Connect children with appropriate tutors and outside resources for their needs.

• Monitor the tutoring program to ensure success.

• Set longer-range goals, based on an educational plan. Monitor and adjust plans as necessary throughout the academic year.

• Determine strategies for successful parent advocacy.

• Based upon the unique profiles and learning styles of the child, assess the fit of the student’s learning environment.
